I have compiled a list of recommended things to take and do when getting ready to evacuate. (Thanks to those who have posted some of these suggestions) Of course, if you have been instructed to evacuate immediately, please just get yourself out! If you are in a nearby area, begin packing these items so that you are ready should the evacuation order come in.

I am sure there are many other things that are important to you other than what is listed here, so please take them if they will be a comfort to you.

WHAT TO PACK

Clothing
3 days-worth of clothes
Pants, shirts (long sleeve & short), underwear, bras, socks, shoes, warm jacket/sweatshirt

WHAT TO DO
Use an empty laundry basket to pack into
Take a video of every room in your home, including closets
Take photos of serial numbers of big ticket items (TVs, iPads/computers, fridge, stove, hot tubs, washer/dryer, etc)
Unlock side gates to your home
Put a sign on your front door that you’ve evacuated (for first responders)
Turn off gas main
Water down your home – roof, landscaping, fences
Turn off water main
Fill up your gas tank in car
Plan to be in traffic – pack your patience
