Get More For Your Home: Lesser Talked About Selling Tips

Hi. It’s Sue Bonzell with Terra Firma Global Partners in Sebastopol and I’d like to talk about getting your home ready for sale. I know that I’ve talked about this before, but it’s really, really important. And there are some super simple things that a lot of people just kind of forget about when they are getting their home ready to put on the market. And one of the things that a lot of people forget about which I would forget about because I’m only 5″1′ is the top of your refrigerator. Yes, you need to clean the top of your refrigerator because not everyone is 5″1′ who’s coming into your home, they can see on top of your refrigerator. So, if you haven’t cleaned it off in awhile, it might be a little dusty. So, clean off the top of your refrigerator and also the outside of your refrigerator. If you’ve got all those magnets and invitations and pictures and things like that, it’s best to just clean those all off, put them all away for another time, and wipe down the outside of your refrigerator from all the sticky hands that are getting in for all the food. So, keeping your refrigerator nice and clean is a great suggestion.

Also, getting your windows clean, nice and crystal clear, so you could see through them and see the views if you have views or even into the backyard, or into the neighbor’s yard, if that’s the view that you have. The other thing you want to do is replace any of your burnt-out light bulbs or any that are a little bit dim. You want to make your house nice and bright with some light bulbs and a lot of times we forget we have a burnt-out light bulb and you think, “Oh, I’ll get to it later.” Go around your house, check them all and replace them all with some nice, bright, white bulbs so that your house is nice and bright.

The other thing that you want to do is the first thing people see is come to your front door. Take a look at your front door. Maybe your front door needs a fresh coat of paint or just a really good cleaning job. So, take a look at that. And of course, a nice welcome mat because people want to be welcomed to your home when they come to take a look at it. So, those are just a couple of suggestions. I have an entire list on my website.
